[COMMENT: Fair question. This piece below is an astonishing admission, from Obama's own camp, of what many of us have been saying, that Obama is a not-so-crypto totalitarian.
I heartily encourage you, dear reader, to look at both
original articles (see url's in first paragraph) before making your conclusion
about the matter. When I read Leonhardt's article, I thought he
might have a point -- until I read Huston's rebuttal. I have been
comparing Obama to Hitler for some time, due to his passion for centralizing
government. Leonhardt's defense of Obama by use of Hitler's policies, is
at least stupid, begging for a comeback such as Huston's, and maybe subtlely
E. Fox]

"NYTimes: Obama's
Economic Ideas Great... Just Like Hitler's Were?" by Warner Todd Huston provides
an analysis of the stunning comparison of President Barack Obama to Adolph
Hitler made by David Leonhardt in "The New York Times" which is owned by a

In his article, Huston expresses amazement over two equally astonishing
facts. First, Leonhardt's admission that Obama is just like Hitler, and second,
Leonhardt didn't mean it as an insult. Leonhardt, Huston points out, was saying
that it was a good thing that, in an economic sense, Obama was being like
Hitler. Huston explains how Leonhardt encourages Americans to ignore World War
II and the Holocaust and just focus on how Hitler's polices were good for
Germany because Hitler, in essence, made the trains run on time.
With a level of hubris reserved only for Democrats, Leonhardt wrote approvingly about how Obama is emulating Hitler's economic policies with massive "stimulus" spending and the take over of private industry.
Obama, incredibly, provided credence to Leonhardt’s assessment of Obama as being Hitler-like when, with a straight face, Obama looked Americans straight in the eye during his New Hampshire town hall meeting and declared that he has never favored a single-payer health insurance plan. Yet, there is a video of Obama stating, unequivocally, that he does favor a single-payer health insurance plan. Just as deceptive was Obama’s declaration that Senator Johnny Isakson of Georgia was the author of the “end-of-life” language, but Isakson later publicly stated that he had nothing to do with the Democrat-devised legislation.
Democrats expressed no outrage over Lenohardt's favorable comparison of Obama to Hitler. Yet, Democrats reflexively use Hitler references to denigrate average Americans who oppose Obama's government-run health care scheme.

The Democrat’s 1,000-page health care scheme would:
Average Americans are alarmed by the $1 trillion increase in entitlement spending. They are incensed by the failure by Democrats to explain legislation that would cause 119 million people to lose their private health care insurance and socialize 17 percent of the economy, while leaving 36 million Americans uninsured. Americans understand that what is truly “un-American” is the very idea that 300 million Americans should place their personal health care decisions in the hands of a Democrat-controlled Congress.
Seniors are opposed to the $500 billion cut in
medicare and the Government having the right to decide if health care for
seniors is worth the cost. Those seniors exercising their freedom of speech at
town hall meetings are accused by Democrats of being the kind of people,
according to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who go around "carrying swastikas."
Closer to the truth is Leonhardt's analysis of Obama's socialist actions, since
the word "Nazi" is an acronym for National German Socialist Workers' Party.

Taranto writes about how one of Obama's special assistants urged supporters on
the White House Web site of ObamaCare to report dissent: "If you get an email or
see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it
to flag@whitehouse.gov ".
If
ever there was an example of a totalitarian tactic and an assault on our civil
liberties, that White House website is it. Texas Sen. John Cornyn accused the
White House of compiling an "enemies list" and asked Obama to halt the
collection of information on Americans who are merely exercising their
constitutional right to seek from the Government a redress of grievances. A

Part of the Democrats' orchestrated effort to silence opposition
includes accusing protestors of being "un-American" and an "angry mob". An even
more troubling aspect is the deployment of union thugs to intimidate and attack
protestors. Goons from the SEIU (Service Employees International Union)
physically assaulted a black Conservative, Kenneth Gladney, who was handing out
"Don't Tread on Me" flags after a town hall meeting in Missouri.
According to "The St. Louis Post-Dispatch", six people were arrested by the St. Louis County police after the Gladney beating -- two on suspicion of assault, one for resisting arrest and three on suspicion of committing peace disturbances. There was no media uproar over the racial slurs, including calling him the “N-word”, hurled at Gladney by the angry mob of liberal Democrats. Thuggish Democrats stomped Gladney, time and again, sending him to the emergency room of the St. John's Mercy Medical Center, where he was treated for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face. The
assault on Gladney calls to mind the fact that during the 1960's, Democrats
physically attacked Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a Republican, and bombed his
home several times because he dared to protest peacefully against the Democrats
who were denying civil rights to blacks. Democrat Public Safety Commissioner
Eugene "Bull" Conner in Alabama let loose vicious dogs and turned skin-burning
fire hoses on black civil rights protestors. In March of 1968, while referring
to Dr. King's leaving Memphis, Tennessee after riots broke out where a teenager
was killed, Democrat Senator Robert Byrd, a former member of the Ku Klux Klan,
called Dr. King a "trouble-maker" who starts trouble, but runs like a coward
after trouble is ignited. A few weeks later, Dr. King returned to Memphis and

When President George W. Bush was in office, Democrats and their leftist
groups, such as ACORN, ANSWER, Code Pink, USAction and MoveOn.Org, are famous
for declaring that "dissent is the highest form of patriotism" as is

Hypocritically, when left-wing groups protest, Democrats call it
"community organizing," but when conservative groups protest, Democrats call it

The truth about how Americans
gave of their lives and treasure to gain freedom for ourselves and others around
the globe was not learned by Obama at the feet of his childhood mentor and
avowed communist, Frank Marshall Davis, nor in college where Obama was taught by
Marxist professors, nor in the church of his anti-American pastor, Rev. Jeremiah
Wright.
Obama's failure to understand that Americans are freedom-loving
people is the reason he is blind to the depth of opposition to the universal,
single-payer health care scheme that will result in expanded government and a
loss of freedom.
