Who is Barack Obama?

Below are two Road to Emmaus eNewsletters sent out on the Obama debacle. 

#1 - Newsletter - Sunday, December 7, 2008
Greetings, Fellow Christians and Other Friends, 
 
         Several of the articles posted below investigate the Obama phenomenon, the curious appearance of an almost unknown, catapulted into international fame.  Some of that fame lies in the fact that he was trying to be the first black president of the most powerful nation on earth.  But, from the events as are publicly known by all, what can we conclude about our putative president-to-be? 
 
        There are currently several efforts to stop Obama from being sworn in as president until he is willing to submit his birth certificate for examination, to prove that he is eligible for the office.  The Constitution reads (Article II, Section 1, 5th paragraph): "No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President..."   It is a matter of simple fact.  He either is or is not a natural born citizen of the United States.  "Natural born" means born on America soil.  There is no deep problem of interpretation.  It is a matter of fact which could be easily proven or disproven..... unless someone were hiding the evidence.
 
        What, then, would impel a man who is candidate for the presidency of the United States to tell the We, the People (over whom he wants to rule, himself then restrained from dictatorship substantially by the Constitution) that he will not tell us whether he is indeed a legitimate candidate under that Constitution?   What should one conclude from such behavior? 
 
        Obama is placing, right in the path of the United States, a Constitutional crisis.  Is that deliberate?
 
        If, for example, he were to be sworn into office, and then it should become known that he was in fact born in Kenya, and so not eligible to hold the office of President, then the legitimacy of his enormous authority, and of all the official acts he had done, would immediately be in question, if not outright nullified.  His vice-president would have to immediately step in and he would depart in disgrace.  Unless, of course, he were "bailed out" by yet another inexcusably incompetent act of Congress, absolving him (so to speak) of his indiscretion -- if, indeed, such an act of Congress itself could have any legitimacy. 
 
        Furthermore, if Obama does not come clean on this issue, it will mean that We, the People, cannot trust his oath of office, which would be meaningless.  How can a man who openly abuses and disrespects the Constitution take an oath to uphold and defend it?
 
        It will mean that every other person who has sworn the oath of office to support and honor the Constitution of the United States (and that means every office holder of any legal sort in the United States) will have the absolute obligation to say "no" to Barak Obama.  It means that the electors which "belong to" Obama will be morally and legally unable to vote for him.   It means that no one will be morally or legally able to administer the oath of office. 
 
        Should one not conclude that such a man is (1) dishonest, (2) manipulative, (3) monumentally arrogant, and (4) regards the people over whom he will be ruling as ignorant, manipulable, and therefore contemptible?  And, given his meteoric rise to center stage importance, should the people not suspect that he has had a lot of back-stage help getting where he is, maybe even groomed for it by those Globalist folks who do their best to run things hidden in the background? 
 
        We, the People, should not wait for verification of natural birth, but conclude immediately, that Barak Obama is not fit to be President over us, that he has already proven himself to be all of the things listed above, and is not to be trusted with the power of enforcing laws over us, not to be trusted with the power of the military, federal marshals, and executive orders at his disposal. 
 
        What kind of population would vote for a man who has been so arrogant and dishonest with them?  What can explain such nonsense on the part of a people? 
 
        Some of us would suggest that we have allowed ourselves to be "dumbed down" by our dysfunctional school system and dishonest media so that we cannot any longer think for ouselves.  Have our wanna-be masters come to the conclusion that We, the People, have been reduced to that sad state of affairs, so they can now assert, at will, their desire to rule over us?  "At will..." meaning, "without restraint of the Constitution".  
 
        In legal documents, such as a Constitution, those under the authority of that document must assume that every word in it is put there deliberately and with the normal intent of the words used.  When it says, "natural born", it means just that.  To ignore our Constitution on the issue of birth and citizenship is to call into question the whole meaning of the Constitution. 
 
        But Obama tells us that we have a "living" Constitution -- which means what?  It means, clearly, that he believes that he and others at the top of the government pyramid have the right to change the constitution in any direction they wish, irrespective of We, the People -- who understand (or used to  understand) that document to be a covenant between us and our rulers, by which we held them in check.  "Living constitution" by centralizers of government is like "freemarket commerce" by those same people.  It is living and free only for their those at the top, not for We, the People.  It is no longer a covenantal document which holds anyone in check (but ourselves).  It is being turned on its head. 
 
        So, let We the People, say to Mr. Barak Obama:
        Our Constitution will be changed by the People under God, not by power-mongers at the top of the pyramid.  And if you or anyone else determines otherwise, We, the People will again invoke our Declaration of Independence, and assert our unalienable right under God "to alter or abolish" that government, "and to institute new Government, laying its foundaton on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness". 
 
        "And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our Sacred Honor."    Count on it. 
        The only question is whether We, the People have the stomach and backbone to keep such a promise.  We will when we put ourselves back again under the law and grace of our King, the Lord Jesus Christ. 
 
        The blacks have men of far deeper moral, spiritual, and political integrity than Obama.  Alan Keyes of the American Independent Party, for example.  If you want to help restore our Constitution, go to http://www.aipnews.com/ and sign up...! 
 
        As it stands, we in America have become incompetent and unable to be our own governors.  We are incompetent to govern ourselves, and thus to choose our own rulers.  We lost our constitutional republic in 1962 when our Supreme Court told God to butt out (Engel vs. Vitale), and are now reaping the rewards of our ignorance and cowardice.   Pray for our priests, pastors, and churches, that they will return to an honest preaching of the Word of God, not for our personal salvation only, but also for the sovereignty of God over our corporate and public life.

Fellow Christians and Other Friends,
 
        More on the Obama confusion.  The matter will be argued for years, no doubt. 
 
        But anyone refusing right from the start to be open about his past with the public has no business being president of the United States.  Legal or not.  There are common sense and moral issues which transcend legal requirements, whatever they turn out to be. 
 
        No one would hire a technician to work on life-sensitive equipment under such conditions.  You would not hire a man to build a bridge over a deep gorge who refused to give you his credentials from a legitimate engineering school -- or who said to you that his credentials were at X school, but that you could not see them.  That would be asinine and criminally culpable.   The president of the United States must rule almost daily on such life-sensitive issues.  We, the People, are criminally culpable if we allow such a man to be our president. 
 
        It is not sufficient that some official in Hawaii says that he saw the birth cert.  It must be made open to the public for inspection.  If Obama is not willing to do that, he is not fit for being our ruler.  No one has a "right" to be a ruler over us.  He must first earn our trust by showing obedience to the covenant relation given in our Constitution.  That is the document which We, the People, have set up to govern our governors, to limit their power over us, to ensure that they are our servants, not our masters.  We must firmly, and if necessary, forcibly, reject any would-be master who fails to respect that covenant relationship under God.  We did it with Hitler, Hirohito, and Stalin on the outside.  We had better do it with would-be tyrants among us. 

        Any person who does not respect and support the constitution is, ipso facto, a suspect tyrant.  One's response to the Constitution is a good prima facie indication of his tyranny-quotient, for the Constitution was set up precisely to ensure control by the People over their government.  Any subversion of it is suspect. 
 
        If it be true that we have gone too far down the legal road for moral concerns to undo the damage, or if the Supreme Court refuses to do its duty, then we may just have to swallow our punishment and get on with life.  But then we must invoke the unalienable right to change our government (see Declaration of Independence) when it becomes abusive of our freedoms and dishonors God who gave them.
 
        Pray for the best, and hopefully learn a deep and powerful lesson: the price of freedom is still eternal vigilance.  Get your own intellectual, moral, and spiritual life in order so that you can be a warrior in this fight.  Lead, follow, or get out of the way. 
 
        Hopefully the Supreme Court will put principle above political convenience.
