The preceding illustration by Bob Knight -- perhaps one of the conservative movement's most effective culture warriors -- makes the case plainly.

Now that Nancy Pelosi and the liberals are in the majority in Congress, the radical-homosexual lobby thinks it's finally about to get what it ordered... a bill that, if passed, would "go after" all "the other bigots." [Translation: YOU]

The bill -- H.R. 1592 -- empowers the federal government to prosecute so-called "hate-crimes" based on a person's "sexual orientation, gender identity, gender and disability."

Sound reasonable? 

Consider the following real life examples:

Recently, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that municipal employers have the right to ban the words "natural family," "marriage" and "family values" because these words constitute "hate-speech" and could intimidate homosexual, bisexual, or trans-sexual workers.

In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania -- where "hate-crimes" legislation is already the law of the land -- police arrested and jailed 11 Christians for singing and preaching in a public park where homosexuals were holding a street festival.  Five of them -- one a 17-year-old girl -- were hauled into court and faced 47 years in prison, just for praying and singing in a public park . After months, a judge dismissed the case, but in doing so compared these 11 Christian to Nazis.

The preceding examples illustrate why H.R. 1592 is so dangerous... why it must not pass.

H.R. 1592 doesn't make HATE a crime, it makes THOUGHT a crime. 

And if you're a Christian or an Orthodox Jew or simply someone that believes in the traditions and values of this great country... YOU'RE the CRIMINAL!

We CAN stop H.R. 1592 but we will need a flood of protests to stem the tide. That's why I'm asking you to add your voice to the growing number of good people who are saying to Congress: Stop H.R. 1592 from passing at all costs!

Look What Is Coming.

We can predict what will happen here in the U.S. by seeing what has happened in other countries that have enacted "hate-crimes" legislation.

Pastor Ake Green preached a sermon from his pulpit in Borholm, Sweden entitled "Are people born with homosexual orientation or is it the result of influence by evil powers?" Green was arrested and sentenced to one month in jail. The charge: He showed "disrespect" for homosexuals. [Under Swedish law he could have gotten four years!]

In Australia, two pastors were convicted under a "hate-crimes" law for accurately quoting from the Korean because the Korean passages were deemed uncomplimentary to Islam. [A higher court has set aside the conviction for now and returned the case to the lower court]

Peter LaBarbera, of Americans for Truth, noted that in both Canada and France, legislators have been fined for publicly criticizing homosexuality. He also pointed out what has already happened in Britain: "[A] British couple told how they were denied the chance to adopt because it was determined that their Christian faith might 'prejudice' them against a homosexual child put in their care."

And it's beginning to happen over here.

Catholic Charities of Boston recently halted all adoption procedures in Massachusetts after being warned that under current Massachusetts law, only agencies that agree to place children in homosexual households can be licensed by the state. The Church's choice: Betray your religious beliefs or give up your ability to help little babies find homes.

Michael Marcavage, director of Repent America, has pointed out that laws punishing hate-crimes stand the American judicial system on its head: "Truth is not allowed as evidence in hate crimes trials. ... A homosexual can claim emotional damage from hearing Scripture that describes his lifestyle as an abomination. He can press charges against the pastor or broadcaster who merely reads the Bible in public. The 'hater' can be fined thousands of dollars and even imprisoned!"

Here's more of what is coming:

If you own a small business or operate a Christian ministry, and a homosexual activist simply believes you discriminated against him in your hiring practices... you're a criminal.

If your elderly mother rents rooms in her home to make ends meet and she refuses to rent to a homosexual couple... she's a criminal.

And if you denounce the gay rights movement within earshot of a homosexual... you're a criminal.

The thought police are indeed coming to your town, your neighborhood and your street.

Today we are standing on the threshold of a new era in the history of our nation -- the Anti-Christian Era.

You've seen the first signs of it in the banning of Christmas in public schools, the removal of the Ten Commandments from courthouses, the forbidding of military chaplains from mentioning the name of Jesus, and the federal funding of obscene attacks on Christ and Mary masquerading as art.

Make no mistake, if H.R. 1592 becomes law, there will be no turning back.

What's The Real Agenda?

H.R. 1592 is NOT a "gay rights" bill.

IT IS AN OUTRAGEOUS ATTACK ON THE MOTIVES AND CHARACTER OF MILLIONS OF DECENT RELIGIOUS PEOPLE OF ALL FAITHS.

H.R. 1592 was introduced by John Conyers, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, one of the most "ethically challenged" left-wing ideologues on Capitol Hill.

Two former aides accused him of violating Houses ethics rules.

His chief of staff resigned, citing activities that were "unethical, if not criminal."

He was investigated for three years and then given a slap on the wrist.

The same bill will soon be introduced in the Senate by none other than that model of virtuous behavior Teddy Kennedy.

Of course, neither Conyers nor Kennedy presents hard evidence that crimes against homosexuals aren't being prosecuted vigorously -- no evidence that sentences have been too light.  After all, if you're a left-wing ideologue, why should that matter.

Let's take a look at FBI statistics on the number of "hate-crimes" committed on the basis of sexual orientation as reported in 2005, the last year for which we have complete figures.

the number of incidents -- 1,017. (Twenty-three of these were committed against heterosexuals);
number of murders -- zero;
number of aggravated assaults -- 177 (physical);
number of simple assaults -- 333 ("Simple" assault means "other than physical": e.g., name calling)
intimidation -- 301 ( I guess that includes things like "giving someone a dirty look")
the rest fall under "other"

As far as bodily harm is concerned, the FBI reports only 177 physical assaults in the entire year! That's fewer than 4 per week across the nation.

Assuming homosexuals comprise about 1% of the population... you're talking about only 177 reported assaults that occurred within a population pool of 3 million individuals.

If so few homosexuals are being attacked and the courts are convicting and punishing the very few offenders, what's going on? Why this frantic push to pass a "hate-crimes" bill? Why should this bill be a top item in the Democrats agenda?

Bottom line: There is no crisis here.  And while any assault against another human being should not be taken lightly, if you're a homosexual, it's probably far more likely that you'll be injured in your bathtub than be a victim of a so-called "hate-crime."

So what is the real agenda?

H.R. 1592 Is An Assault On Free Speech, Nothing More, Nothing Less

Long before George Orwell penned "1984," it was widely acknowledged that corrupt and tyrannical governments attempt to control the people by controlling speech.

Our Founding Fathers knew it as well... it is no coincidence that the 1st Amendment to the Constitution guarantees the right of free speech.

Our legislators will tell you that H.R. 1592 does nothing more than tack-on an additional penalty to an already felonious act when that act is committed out of hatred or bigotry.

As the Philadelphia 11 (cited above) already know, it's not difficult for law enforcement officials to trump-up -- or outright make-up -- charges against you in order to charge you under a hate-crimes statute.

As folks are already finding out in other countries, it doesn't take long to criminalize the speech itself... we're not talking about a "slippery-slope" here... we're talking about a cliff!

And as the preceding examples clearly indicate, hate-crimes legislation has a preferred target -- CHRISTIANS!

If we do not stop H.R. 1592 NOW, you very well may live to see a world in which your thoughts, values and beliefs are criminalized.

Even now, H.R. 1592 empowers federal prosecutors to challenge a jury's verdict or a judge's sentence if either the jury or judge "left demonstratively unvindicated the federal interest in eradicating bias-motivated violence."

[COMMENT: The federal government has NO interest in bias-motivated violence, other than to curtail its own.  There is no Constitutional authority for its intervening in such matters.  E.Fox] 

In other words, if an Attorney General -- say Ramsey Clark -- disagrees with a not-guilty verdict or a five-year sentence, he can send in federal goons to effectively overturn what happens in a state court...

He can convene a kangaroo court and force a guilty verdict.

He can bully the trial judge into handing down a 20-year sentence or else turn the case over to a left-wing activist judge.

If this bill becomes law, you can kiss our ancient and time-tested jury system goodbye.

No legislation in American history has been quite as radical or as dangerous.

It is police-state morality. It says to orthodox religious people: You are DEAD WRONG; and if you try to practice your beliefs, WE'LL CRUSH YOU!
