The wisdom of our time (even so-called "Christian" wisdom) tells us that there is no place for religion in politics -- often because 'politics' is apriori defined as an evil enterprise. But my dictionary defines 'politics' (definition #1) as 'the science and art of civil government'. Politics has a reputation for being underhanded, deceitful, etc., but, despite common practice, that is not the original or fundamental meaning of the word.
That politics is inherently evil is
not the wisdom of the Father in heaven who, according to a rumor started by
Jesus, gave all power and authority into Jesus' own hands, to be the King of
kings and Lord of lords. "Jesus is Lord" is a political claim.

My view of illegal drugs is that we are incapable of
making people be nice to themselves. As with alcohol, we ought to protect
children and throw the book at drug dealers to children. But until we
raise our children with the warning that -- "into adulthood, you are on your
own, and will suffer, or rejoice in, the consequences of your behavior" -- we
will never have a mature, adult population. As with homosexuality, we are
convinced that the Magic of Science + Govt. Nanny = salvation from all
consequences. Pass another law, appoint another committee...
Drug laws only create a huge and lucrative blackmarket
drug trade, the war against which we will never win --- not until we preach
moral responsibility and rugged independent again. Under the law and grace

The politicians and police themselves are too often a
part of the problem to be enforcers of drug laws. We must again take

My take on the matter:
Communism is NOT dead, as the bill says. The dangers are just as great as
ever. Only the Soviet Union is dead, but Communism is alive and well in a
more "friendly" guise -- the "long subversive march through our institutions". The
"Democrats" (now run by many who favor Communism) want to lower the defenses
against Communism, but forbid us to teach Christianity, Communism's worst enemy.
This mind-control is what happens to education whenever it is controlled by the
government rather than a freemarket system. We no longer have a freemarket
of ideas. And we no longer have a democratic constitutional republic.
Communism is just
as much a "religion" as is Christianity (it has its own worldview, morality,
politics, culture, etc.), but there are no laws on the Governor's desk to make
it easier to teach Christianity -- which gave us our Constitutional freedoms.
Is it not clear where the Democratic Party is going? A centralized,
tyrannical government is in the making in America.
We are in a war where only one side is shooting. What is the matter with
our side??? Where are our spiritual leaders? See

Further evidence that President Bush is NOT in the Biblical camp. One

speaks only with vagueness on crucial issues (sexuality, abortion, etc., not
with clarity. It looks to me as though he was given the Republican
leadership to con Christians into support the GOP. He in fact supports
many anti-Biblical positions (e.g., unlimited government and socialism).
A God who creates a heaven which is a
free-will covenant, who supports, even demands, the freedom of His created
persons, is not going to be in favor of a government which in effect replaces
Him (by defining the difference between right and wrong, or by replacing Him as
the Ultimate Guarantor of our welfare and safety). Only the law and grace
of God can prevent civil government from becoming totalitarian.
Until a president can say out loud
that civil government is to be under the sovereignty of God, and lead his people
that way, he cannot claim to support a Biblical position.
If you compare the trajectory of what
Bush seems to want as his public image with the trajectory of his behavior, they
do not match. Believe the behavior, not the words or projected image.
